Executive Director, Jared Indahl
Prior to Mitchell Main Street & Beyond, Indahl was the assistant athletic director at Dakota State University in Madison from 2014 to 2018, where he oversaw the marketing and promotional plans for all varsity-level athletic programs, as well as event planning and game day management, fundraisers and hospitality events for Trojan Athletics and booster clubs. His accomplishments at DSU include an 81 percent increase in football ticket sales, a 208 percent increase in premium seating sales, and a 73 percent increase in volleyball game attendance.
Before his time at DSU, Indahl spent two years at the University of Tennessee as an athletic marketing assistant for Vol and Lady Vol athletics while completing his master’s degree in sport management. His duties included implimenting marketing and fan experience plans to increase brand awareness, increase attendance and increase positive fan experience. At UT, Indahl helped build the women’s basketball program to the No. 1 attendance ranking in the NCAA along with No. 5 ranking for softball.
“I am looking forward to calling the Mitchell community ‘home,’ and getting to know all the local business owners” said Indahl.
A native of Burke, Indahl recalls many shopping trips to Mitchell, and he said he made many high school athletic memories at the Corn Palace and Lakeview Golf Course. He now enjoys watching his nieces make their own Mitchell memories in high school sports.
Indahl received his bachelor’s degree in psychology and communication studies from the University of South Dakota.
“We are thrilled Jared will be heading our organization,” said Logan. “His background in sports management, event planning, interest in downtown history and his local connections make him ideal for the job. We look forward to the energy and expertise he will bring to our efforts on behalf of our businesses, shoppers and Mitchell residents.”
Logan continued, “We are excited for our members to meet Jared and are confident they will be impressed. Jared is here to help our member businesses. MMS&B’s goals to grow Mitchell’s downtown as a vibrant, economically healthy, attractive area to work, play, shop and live. As we improve downtown Mitchell in those ways, our members’ sales will increase. Rising waters raise all ships. We are all part of the same team. Our success depends us constructively sharing our ideas, cooperating and working together.”
Bobbie is our board secretary with Mitchell Main Street & Beyond, and serves on the Organizational and Development Committees. In response to why Bobbie volunteers with our downtown organization, she says: "Downtown is the heart of the city. I lived in downtown Mitchell for seven years as a youth, and I'd like to feel the same vibe I felt back then for all ages." Bobbie was also recognized at the 2018 Annual Banquet as the Main Street Champion. She is pictured here with South Dakota's Lieutenant Governor, Matt Michels.
Mark has been involved with MMS&B since its start in 2007. “I’ve been in a number of different metro areas where they’ve restored Main Street and downtown areas into multi-use developments. It's attractive and those are the places I like to go visit. There is character and uniqueness to those places. Having grown up here, I felt it was important to be part of the change to do the same thing to Mitchell.” Mark says his favorite part of Mitchell Main Street is the architectural character of the buildings. But a close second are the local shops. “They are very personal and comfortable.” MMS&B thanks Mark and all its volunteers for their hard work!
