to Showcase Partnership
Mitchell, S.D.—The Dakota Wesleyan University Kelley Center for Entrepreneurship will host an open house on Tuesday, Sept. 27, to highlight the reestablishment of a partnership with the South Dakota Small Business Development Center whose nearest regional office is in Yankton. The open house will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. in the School of Business, Innovation and Leadership on the DWU campus. Those attending will have the opportunity to speak with Sue Stoll, Associate State Director of the South Dakota Small Business Development Center, Lori Cowman, SBDC Business Consultant, and Rhonda Pole, executive director of the Kelley Center.
This partnership includes space dedicated within the Kelley Center as a Mitchell site for the SBDC. SBDC outreach provides professional, confidential, and no-cost business consulting to students and community members.
Stoll is looking forward to the opportunity for engagement. “The SD SBDC has a long history of partnering with post-secondary education institutions throughout the state to support entrepreneurship. We are pleased to have this relationship with the Kelley Center at DWU in Mitchell. It enhances our engagement in both on and off campus entrepreneurial activities in the Mitchell area.”
Kelley Center executive director Rhonda Pole knows what resources the SBDC can provide. “The SBDC is a tremendous resource for our students, faculty and staff, and regional entrepreneurs as they are focused on supporting and empowering small businesses. Their work fosters job creation, economic growth and innovation which supports the building of a vibrant quality of life for our region. We are delighted to be a partner.”
Formed in 1985, the South Dakota SBDC has helped clients obtain more than $1.8 billion in financing since 1998, leading to the creation or preservation of thousands of jobs within the state. SBDC services enable South Dakota’s entrepreneurs to make better, more informed business decisions, to avoid costly mistakes, and to prepare thorough and complete business plans needed both to obtain financing and to effectively manage their venues.
